PAUL TYSON - QB
HEWITT-TRUSSVILLE HIGH SCHOOL - ALABAMA
2019 QB Paul Tyson is a young up and comer that has drawn some major college football interest. The great-grandson of Bear Bryant has heard from Alabama, Clemson, Notre Dame and Mississippi State. Tyson just recently visited Alabama and Clemson.
Paul is the prototype "stand tall in the pocket" pro style quarterback. He has great height and has great footwork. He drives the ball pretty well and shows excellent accuracy. Can make throws into tight windows and stays composed at all times. His release is quick and he senses pressure when needed. (He's not pressured a lot on his tape) Seems to real the field well for being so young. Does a good job of keeping both hands on the ball and his mechanics are phenomenal.
Paul will need to continue to work on his arm strength, but that will simply come with growth and age. He drives the ball pretty well for only being a sophomore. He will need to focus on making the curl/comeback/deep out throws consistently as he gets older. Those throws are staples in pro style offenses. You don't see him run a lot, but the offense he's in obviously doesn't need to see him run. Overall mobility will be key as he grows to handle the pass rush of major college football.
THE BOTTOM LINE
Paul is a young QB with an extremely high ceiling. He already has the height and frame of a Division 1 QB. He seems very smart and seems to make great decisions with the football. He has excellent mechanics and has a very quick release. He's the prototype "pro style" QB and will find himself as a scholarship QB on a Division 1 roster come 2019. He will easily develop into a high 4-star QB. We look forward to watching his career.
